Earthy Tones

This piece features glass nuggets and gold plated beads. This is one of those pieces that can go with almost anything!
This was a fun one to make. I was playing with the copper colored wire and got a bit loopy!

Still not cleaning...

Instead of cleaning up my bead room, I decided to take some pics of fairly recent items that I have made. I'm sure the extra beads can be found on the boards!

This one is green agate with goldplate. Simple yet classy.

These are in the fall colors again. Cechz glass, pewter and silver plate for the brown and white one and tigereye and gold plate for the other. I just love the richness of tigereye.

Need more convincing?

Still not convinced you should try L'bri? Check out this testimony I got today! I love hearing about these kind of stories!

I have a possible new customer for you.... she's my best friend, and lives in Vegas. Her skin isn't "bad" by any means, but she does deal with breakouts occasionally and dry skin along with it! I told her about L'Bri and how it has been the ONLY thing that has worked for me. Jenny, I'm not kidding I get compliments on my skin all the time now. I can't believe it. I went from breakout central to pretty skin! Not only does it keep it breakout free, but my skin is always soft. Never dry... BUT NOT OILY! Yay!!

She's using proactive right now and it's not working for her. I think this will be perfect for her to try. She said it's making her skin really tight and flaky.

I can't stress enough how amazing this product is.... after YEARS of struggling with acne and going through hundreds of dollars in dermatologist bills and prescription medications, I found my answer!

Fall is in the air

These projects remind me of the fall colors. I even went against my need for symmetry one two of them kind of like the falling leaves! It felt good to just string without a lot of planning. But, I know I can only supress that once in a while!

This one has foil glass, gold plate and pewter.

This is a mixture including glass, wood, and pewter.

Finally, cut glass, pewter and onyx. This one is going to match so many things.

Texture project

It can be fun to mix it up a bit. In this project I used cord and a great focal glass bead. Simple- yet bold.

And then there was 3... I am apparently going to make this for every day of the week! This time I did the earrings as well because I know I will grab the black to wear often. Now for a necklace!

How many favorites can I have?

Many apparently... I love this. I made modifications to cut down on the assembly time. Can you tell a difference?

Getting a good picture still is a challenge for me!

Are you products toxic?

This is a useful resource to see if the products you use and use on your kids are toxic. You may be surprised by what you find. I was shocked at some of the popular brands out there that had a high toxicity level. Make up especially because it is not regulated at this time. Be an educated consumer...

Necklaces

These two projects use very different componets. The blue one has Milliefori beads, Swarovski Crystal, Cat's eye, glass and silver plate.

The other has lip shell, pewter and silver plate encompassed by nature's beautiful stones. This is a great match with so many outfits!

Get out the beads!

I have been playing with my Bead Retreat Kits that I have had stashed away. I have decided it is wrong for all those pretty beads to be locked up in those plastic bags. So, here are some of things I made yesterday. I think of it as re purposing the beads! The challenge will come when I get to the ones I have many of the same of because I just don't like making the same thing twice! I made a bracelet, earrings and a necklace charm out of each kit by adding a couple components in to have enough materials.

This set has Swarovski crystal, glass and pewter.

Ready for fall with this one. It is glass leaves, pearls and gold plate.

I don't make much in red so I know a couple of people will be glad to see this!!! Lip shell, pearls, glass and silver plate.

Only the bracelet for this one but it has the size to be on it's own! Glass, white Howlite and silver plate.

Dressed up and ready to go! Hematite, Swarovski crystal and silver plate.

Now if I can convince Louie I need to bead more tonight!!!

My New Favorite Bracelet

I love this bracelet. It took pretty long to assemble but it was worth it. The pictures don't do it justice at all! Swarovski crystals and jumprings galore! I plan on making one in black, clear crystal and a pale blue soon! I did the browns for the fall season!

Check your bottles day 8

What to avoid- day 8

FD&C When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not food. D&C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors. They're toxic and should be avoided when at all possible.

Of course, L'Bri does not use those 8 ingredients in their products. For more information go to

For Wendy

I made this simple charm bracelet for my friend Wendy. She is a nurse and volunteers for the local rescue squad. I had originally given her the medical charm set to make her own creation but, took them back to do it for her! She is at home recovering from surgery and has her kids waiting on her "hand and foot" for the next couple of weeks... I have another project waiting to be made for her with all her L'bri charms she earned but I may put that on the back burner because my box of goodies was delivered today so I can get started on a bracelet I have been dying to make! Sorry Wendy!

What to avoid- day 7

ALCOHOLS SUCH AS ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, SD ALCOHOL 40, ETHYL ALCOHOL Alcohols dissolve the body's natural moisturizers and strip the skin of its protection, leaving it vulnerable to infection. Alcohols destroy skin's pH balance, and since they absorb water, they speed up wrinkling.

BORAX (Sodium Borate, Boric acid) Used in baby powders, bath powders, eye creams, skin fresheners, and protective creams as a preservative, borax is rapidly absorbed by the skin. Despite repeated warnings from the American Medical Association, it is still widely used in many products.

ACETONE Used in nail polish and nail polish removers, this colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners, or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, while speeding up the aging process.

What to avoid- Day 4

PETROLATUM This familiar, semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons is derived from petroleum. Literally, "paraffin jelly" or "petroleum jelly," it is not absorbed by the skin and suffocates the pores. All petrochemicals pollute water and destroy marine life. Avoiding these chemicals is essential for humans, animals, fish, water, land, and air.

ALL WAXES SUCH AS PARAFFIN, BEESWAX, CANDELILLA WAX, CARNAUBA WAX Waxes are widely used in cleansing creams, eye creams, and moisturizers. Waxes clog pores, creating blackheads and whiteheads. They also smother the skin, which over time creates an enlarged pore problem.

Check your bottles

I am going to post some information for the next few days about commonly used skincare ingredients and why you should NOT use them. I'll do one a day so that it isn't a long read so get your bottles and check back often!

What to avoid Day 1

MINERAL OIL A liquid mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum, mineral oil can attract dirt and causes blackheads and eruptions. It can accelerate free radical damage, thus speeding up the aging process, because it causes toxins that build up in the skin.

Here they are!

Finally, here are some pics from the weekend bead-a -thon. In total, 7 long chain necklaces, 8 sets (bracelet, necklace, earrings), 17 golf score counters, 10 cell phone bling, 5 key chains and 4 bracelets. Things just got to be on a roll after awhile. I was even able to get some organizing and labeling done so next time I'll spend more time creating and less time looking for things. I was sad to come back to reality!

I have to say that Monday was not pretty. I was too tired to shower so the hair was just not cooperating. My neck was so sore from sitting in beading mode for so long and my fingers were swollen and a bit numb! Was it worth it? You bet! Still waiting for the intervention, I can make some snacks and we can bead!

Sunday, August 24, 2008

WHOA! It's time to stop!

I've been beading all weekend. It was great! The older 4 kids were gone with Dad and the baby naps a lot! I have tons of new bling-well see how much I am willing to part with! I'll post some pictures once the camera returns with my family. A few friends came over as well so I got adult time in on top of it all. Oh yes, and no real meals, just good snacks! I just don't want to stop now that I am on a roll. My newest bead addict friends and I have even picked out our next project that I will teach them. But, back to reality! I have to find something to make for supper and quick!

Maybe just one more pair of earrings...

What is your skin type?

I have had quite a few questions about this when people are trying to pick which sample pack to try, so here is a handy tool. You can also go to http://www.jennofer.lbri.com/ for more information. Click on products.

Here’s How to Determine Your Skin Type
Each of us has a particular skin type. Maybe your skin is dry. Perhaps it is oily, or a combination of the two. There are five basic skin types, each determined by heredity and your environment. Factors such as sunlight, wind, air pollution, diet, and stress make a huge impact on the look and feel of your skin. Before selecting the L’Bri Pure n’ Natural products that are best for you, determine your skin type. Which of the following best describe your skin:

Normal Skin Normal Skin is the goal of every skin care program. Normal Skin is like that of a child, not too oily or dry with few, if any, blemishes. Normal Skin appears moist, plump, and dewy. The pores are small to medium in size. The skin is of medium thickness and even in tone. Normal Skin is soft, smooth, and firm with good elasticity. Key Description: Balanced.

For Normal Skin, order the L’Bri Gentle Skin Care Trio.

Oily Skin Oily Skin exhibits a shiny appearance and is usually thicker, firmer, and less sensitive to the touch than the other types. The pores, visibly more noticeable, are medium to large in size. Individuals with Oily Skin tend to experience recurring clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, and blemishes. Key Description: Overactive.

For Oily Skin with no break-outs, order the L’Bri Deep Pore Skin Care Trio.

For Oily Skin with break-outs, order the L’Bri Deep Pore Cleanser, Deep Pore Freshener, and use L’Bri Aloe Jelly as your moisturizer.

For Oily Skin that is excessively oily with blemishes or acne, order the L’Bri Deep Pore Cleanser, Deep Pore Freshener, and use L’Bri Aloe Jelly as your moisturizer. We also suggest using L’Bri’s KlearAway lotion, which is specially formulated with blemish fighting ingredients to prevent new blemishes from occurring while speeding the healing of existing blemishes.

Dry Skin Dry Skin feels tight and may exhibit visible flaking. Often delicate and easily irritated, Dry Skin may be sensitive to cold weather. Dry Skin has the appearance of a matte finish, lacking sheen. It may be rough to the touch. The appearance of Dry Skin may be due to a superficial dry condition caused by exposure to sun, sea, air, wind, or pollutants. A superficial dry condition can be aggravated by using soap as a cleanser or by failing to apply a protective moisturizer. Certain skin diseases such as eczema, mild psoriasis, or atopic dermatitis can be mistaken for Dry Skin. Key Description: Underactive.

For Dry Skin, order the L’Bri Gentle Skin Care Trio.

For extremely Dry Skin, order the L’Bri Gentle Cleanser, Gentle Freshener, and Intense Moisture Cream.

Combination Skin Those with Combination Skin exhibit two or more skin type characteristics on various parts of the face. For example, the forehead, nose, and chin (known as the T-Zone) may be oily while the cheeks and around the eyes are Normal to Dry. Approximately 95 percent of individuals with Combination Skin fit this description. Combination Skin may involve an oily forehead, dry cheeks, but normal everywhere else, or skin that is normal in the T-Zone and dry everywhere else. Key Description: Asymmetric.

For Combination Skin, order the L’Bri Combination Skin Trio, which consists of the Deep Pore Cleanser, Gentle Freshener, and Gentle Moisturizer.

Sensitive Skin Sensitive Skin tends to overreact to environmental influences such as sun, wind, temperature extremes, and some cosmetics. Easily irritated, this skin type exhibits redness or a rash, itching, stinging, or a burning sensation. Sensitive Skin may develop distended or broken capillaries and allergic reactions. Usually sunburns easily.
Key Description: Delicate.

For Sensitive Skin, order the L’Bri Gentle Skin Trio.

Should it stay or should it go?

I am having a hard time letting go of some of my latest creations... I love blues so it is obvious why I don't want to find that one a new home. It has lip shell, bone bead and Lapiz. Lately I have also had an affection for stone as well. That one has mixed stones and Czech glass. Used to be Swarovski crystal didn't make it to the Art and Craft shows. I guess my horizon is expanding... better get a bigger jewelry case.

Moisturizer tip

We ALL need to use moisturizer... even you girls with oily skin. Why? Because our skin is assaulted every day by wind, dirt, pollution and things we don't even know about! Replenishing what life takes out of our skin is important. Not to mention, if you have oily skin and clean it without moisturizing, you will produce MORE oil. Your skin wants to be hydrated so when you take that layer away with out replenishing it, your body gets the message that it needs to produce more oil. So, get the right moisturizer for your skin type and watch the changes! Twice a day keeps the wrinkles away.
